When “dumbass” would be a promotion
The blogmistress has been having to deal with her boss’ stupid antics.
In his latest maneuver, the BM’s boss (whom I’ll call Captain Nimrod for no particular reason) “generously” offerered her a significant pay raise well in advance of her scheduled review date. Just being a kindly soul?
No. (That would be totally out of character for him.)
Instead, it seems that Captain Nimrod has heard through the grapevine of the BM’s plan to leave his tyrannical grasp - which is sure to start the attrition domino effect with all the other disenfranchised employees - and he’s trying desperately to bail out the water of his already-sunk ship.
I was going to basically respond to the situation my coming up with a thesaurus-style blog listing some of the synonyms for stupid (such as blockheaded, dense, dumb, and numskulled), but that left me wondering whether or not Captain Nimrod, or the other pointy-haired boss-types out there even realize how poor of managers (for that matter, how poor of human beings) they’re being.
For all the lip service paid to communication, respect, and diversity, there’s not a whole lot of it out there.
