A long-delayed blog
Monday, August 26th, 2002Yeah, okay, so I’ve been slow to get this up here. Such a fact is well within my established modus operandi.
Some highlights from the con:
- Spending time with the blogmistress and her S.O. and meeting their way-too-energetic friend.
- Participating in a panel discussion on writing and creativity with JMS and Fiona Avery. And when I say participating, I mean it: the pair insisted that everybody in the room (and it was an intimate group of maybe twelve people) be a part of the discussion. Very energizing and inspiring!
- Seeing the WETA Workshop guys demo some of the FX they did for The Two Towers. I was particularly impressed by (and in much technolust for) a computer program that they’d written for battle scenes, wherein each soldier-participant decides what “he” is going to do and in which the individual fights’ outcomes are determined by the actual melees between the digital combatants. Übercool.
- Getting to listen to the mighty Joss Whedon and seeing an intriguing clip from Firefly.
- Listening to Ray Bradbury speak. [pic]
- Getting autographs from JMS and from Amber Benson! I still so owe the BM for getting Amber to autograph a personalized pic for me! (And the event produced one of my favorite photos!)
You can also check out the few photos from the con that I’ve got online.
More later!
