National Slacker Day

Friday, August 22nd, 2003

From Wired News’ Furthermore::

In Praise of Sloth and Torpor
Stressed, overworked Britons finally have a reason to celebrate. Workers and managers alike are encouraged to slack off Friday in honor of National Slacker Day. Organizers urge workers to “stand up for your right to sit back down again” and enjoy some rest and relaxation. “How can you possibly comprehend the value of your own hectic endeavor if you don’t occasionally put your feet up and experience a state of complete calm?” said actor and Slacker Day supporter Simon Pegg. While workers won’t be required to participate, firms are encouraged to discipline staff who refuse to observe the holiday and insist on working. So don’t just do something, sit there!

Celebrate it year-round, I say! ;-)

They even have The Two Towers in there, too.

The Friday FiveThere are four lights! http://www.fridayfive.org/

1. When was the last time you laughed?
Last night, to Family Guy on Cartoon Network.

2. Who was the last person you had an argument with?
Funny; I just got into an argument yesterday.

Not a huge, blow-up argument, mind you; it’s been awhile since I’ve had one of those. In this case, a customer was in the store and insisted that Christopher Lee (Saruman, Count Dooku) was going to take over the role of Dumbledore in the third Harry Potter film. He refused to believe me when I informed him that, no, it’s going to be someone else.

I shall smite he who doubteth me. :-)

3. Who was the last person you emailed?
Not counting myself (to transfer a new font to my work machine), someone from work.

4. When was the last time you bathed?
I shower daily. My last bath was Monday, a niiiice, loooong, relaaaaxing bath.

5. What was the last thing you ate?
Some lemon and herb chicken.

Secretary
You must like to spank or be spanked, because your romance is remeniscent of Secretary.

A truly modern love story, it shows that you don’t need to be conventional to be normal. You’re probably the type that owns a whole lot more leather than what’s upholstering your car or sofa. Yeah, you know what I mean.
