Destroy Gretchen Speck (AKA Fox)

LJ icon by Cassie2003I got my first taste of Wonderfalls at last year’s Comic-Con when they showed the teaser and first act while waiting for the Tru Calling cast to show up.

Fantastic, quirky, snarky, engrossing. I was hooked right from the get-go, and have watched every episode Fox has aired.

And now Fox has been true to form and cancelled this awesome show:

Well, not sure what to tell ya’ll — but we’re cancelled. Effective at once. The cow creamer will be silent this Thursday and forever forward. Once we recover from the not-shock, Todd, Bryan and I will see if there’s some venue in which to air the remaining episodes. As I have said from the start, the thirteen taken as a whole tell a story and go to a place, so a run of this “limited” series would not be unsatisfying elsewhere. It’s a question as to whether the studio will want to invest in a DVD release of a failed series. Maybe the episodes will sit in a warehouse someplace with that sled and the arc of the covenant.

Thanks for all the support and enthusiasm.

Tim [Minear]

So here’s what I’m gonna do: I’m going to send letters and postcards in support of the show and in protest of its cancellation to the people involved in the production and airing of this too-rare gem of teevee fabulousness.

I will demand/request/demand that the powers that be give me my entire thirteen episode story arc. I don’t care if I have to buy an expensive box set to get it!

So what happened yesterday?

Wikipedia has compiled a short list of April Fool’s Day pranks for all to see and read, along with a list of things that sounded like they might’ve been pranks but really weren’t (like the Google-email story I posted).

Google to Unveil Free E-Mail

Wired News reports:

Google said Wednesday it plans to offer a free Web-based e-mail service with 1 GB of storage space, far more than rival services by Yahoo and Hotmail. It’s another sign Google, traditionally known as a pure search engine, intends to compete more directly with general-purpose portals like Yahoo and Microsoft’s MSN.
