F5: From the Ashes
The Friday Five is dead.
Long live the Friday Five!
I’ll be continuing the F5 tradition (well, the one where I write something, not the one where I flake), either with questions of my own or, hopefully, questions from my reading public. All three of you.
This week’s questions came from Amy, who writes,
No more Friday Five?
Well, we can’t have that!
Thanks, Ames! Here they are!
If you….
1. Could re-write your favorite book, would you change anything?
Hmm… Deceptively tough question, largely ’cause it forces me to decide which book is my favorite.
[thinks about it]
Okay. Ender’s Game. Great book, but I always wanted more with Ender at the end. As the book concludes, there’s a whole lot of fast-forwarding going on; by the time we meet Ender again in Speaker for the Dead, he’s almost a different character.
And that I wanted more time with the protagonist is a pretty good failing for the book to have, I think.
2. Could go back to high school, what would you change?
I wouldn’t have been so damn scared to put myself on the line, socially. I’m talking about stuff like asking a girl I like out on a date. The social reticence I fell into then is still a bad habit I have now.
That, and I would do my homework. I got the material, but my aversion to doing the work cost me good grades and, consequently, scholarships that could have paid my way through college years ago.
3. Could do a different job for a day, what would it be?
Feature film director.
Or astronaut.
4. Could spend $10K at one store, what would you buy and where?
My first instinct was to answer this with, “books, books, and more books at Barnes and Noble,” but I think a truer answer would be that I’d want to spend the $10K on a nice video production and editing station at someplace like Best Buy. Tools to let me make movies, y’know?
5. Could choose Halle in “Catwoman” or Nicole in “Stepford Wives,” which would it be and why?
Hands down, Nicole in Stepford Wives.
Why? This is why:

versus

I still reaaaaalllllly hate that Catwoman costume. Ick.
Oh, how I long for the superpower that would let me visit the parallel Earth where my dream Catwoman casting came to pass instead of Halle.
Meow.
OMG - I am SO famous! Moo!
