Circle of Protection: Spam

As part of the ongoing battle against the spammerfucks who keep trying to let all the Soul Cookie’s readers know about all-natural Viagra and online poker and whatever else strikes their small-dicked fancy, I’ve added a visual checksum, GudLyf’s AuthImage, to the comment process.

For those of you who’ve joined a Yahoo! Group in the last six months, this will be a very familiar practice. See the code, enter the code, leave a comment, be happy.

Feel free to use this thread to test it out. Let me know if something looks wonky.

    My test

Sunday: I returned from my Thanksgiving weekend trip to find 400 automated messages from the blog software alerting me to blocked comment spam messages.

Monday: I installed this piece of software. Here’s hoping it helps.

    P.S. The letters aren’t case-sensitive.

I cannot understand why people are so infatuated with unsolicited advertisement to people who feel hostile against it. These are people who are already disinclined to do business with you! These people make me so … baffled.
