Emails of the fallen

The family of a U.S. Marine killed in Iraq was denied access to the soldier’s Yahoo e-mail account due to the company’s policies, raising questions of whether businesses should balance privacy with special requests.

Christmas came early for fans of the fictional boy wizard Harry Potter on Tuesday, with news that author J.K. Rowling has finished the sixth book in the series, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.”

The book, set to be published on July 16, 2005, picks up the story of Harry Potter’s sixth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as his evil foe Lord Voldemort’s “power and followers are increasing day by day,” Rowling’s publishers Bloomsbury and Scholastic said.

Xmas: Now with more cowbell!

Yahoo! News - Christmas Brings Out Wild Side of Swiss

Listeners of Adam Curry’s Daily Source Code will get a kick out of this other tidbit from the story:

This is the eve of St. Nicholas’ Day, and an opportunity for the men of Kuessnacht to parade in a spellbinding array of headgear or go chasing Santa Claus in a cacophonous din of giant cowbells and trumpets.

[...]

“For me it is better than Christmas,” said Urs Reichlin, who has put down his 2 1/2-foot-high cowbell to enjoy a beer free from one of the local taverns.

Cowbells. Gotta love ‘em.
