Zombie movies
I’m new to the whole cinematic zombie genre. I’ve seen last year’s remake of Dawn of the Dead and (of course) the hilarious Shaun of the Dead, but that’s about it.
What other ones are out there that I should check out?
I’ve wanted to check out the original DotD, but it seems like there are half a dozen different DVD repackagings and recuttings of the movie, and so I’m not sure which one would be considered definitive by someone in the know.
Any zombie-philes that want to point me in some good directions?
I don’t remember the original Dawn of the Dead being a very good movie. Ultra-slow zombies just aren’t threatening… Other’s may disagree with me.
Here’s my Zombie approved movie list:
-The original Night of the Living Dead (Doesn’t get much better than that)
-Dawn of the Dead (2004) (Much much better than the original)
-Return of the Living Dead (More comedy than scarey but entertaining no doubt)
-28 Days Later (Technically not Zombies, but it is definetly a good Zombie genre movie)
I don’t think I ever saw Day of the Dead so I can’t comment on that one.

28 days later sucks. No zombies anywhere! I was *promised* zombies. Skip it, it’s lame. Like Shawn of the dead, but it sucks ass.
You have to see The Laughing Dead. I was in it. What else do you need to know about it?
No, really. I *was* in it. For about 2 seconds, about 59 minutes in. I’m in it. Honest to peaches.
1. Return of the Living Dead is my previous fave zombie movie (not a very serious movie, but entertaining) before the recent remake of Dawn of the Dead
2. Dead Alive is another campy zombie movie (one of Peter Jackson’s earlier works) with some of the grossest zombie disposal scenes ever.
3. Night of the Living Dead is one of the classics.
4. I haven’t seen it, but I’ve heard that White Zombie is pretty good.
