Wow – timely!
I’m going to Disneyland this weekend, and the one ride I must go on is the newly-reopened Space Mountain.
So imagine my surprise to learn about — and then to watch — a Space Mountain simulation video! I think it’s the new track layout, though that might just be an artifact of a mis-sync between the soundtrack I know and the on-screen movement.
We’ll see, come Saturday.
They changed the track layout? But then how am I supposed to close my eyes, look at the person next to me, and predict all the turns? Those bastards!
However, I did get slightly nauseated thinking about the time the ride broke down when we were in the rotating tunnel at the end. It was very disconcerting to be sitting in that part for several minutes … made me kinda urp-y.
You’re going to see Mickey this weekend? Awww, have fun Kev.
And if you see Tweedle Dee or Tweedle Dum, kick ‘em in the shins for me…they always seemed to be around when I was there a few years ago. Creeped the crap out of me!
Went this past weekend, actually.
And, as it happened, I did see one of the Tweedle lads; don’t know which one.
The coolest character moment was seeing a Disneyland cast member portraying Alice (of Wonderland) talking with a very excited little girl also dressed as Alice.
What, have they removed the space cookie?? You know, the asteroid-thing that looked like nothing so much as a giant chocolate chip cookie hurtling through the starry skies?
(sigh) An era has ended.
