Studio 60 picked up for back nine

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
E! Online’s “Watch with Kristen” column is reporting that Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip has been picked up for the full season of 22 episodes (instead of just the half-season of 13 episodes).

I’m told that NBC prez Kevin Reilly is standing behind Studio and keeping it in its Monday-night time slot for the time being, in hopes that the show’s audience might grow.

This is excellent news. Studio 60 is a really good show, though the unevenness since its premiere has given me a slightly better appreciation for my parents’ cajoling of high school-era me that I wasn’t living up to my potential:

From anyone else, Studio 60 would be a home run; from the supremely talented one-two punch of Aaron Sorkin and Thomas Schlamme I expect more.

Monday night’s episode, “Nevada Day, Pt. 1,” was a return to tip-top form, however. :-)
