Okay. We didn’t want to get into this, but, you’re a lazy, perverted… rockstar. Everything about you is idealistic and romantic, with that sassy hint of danger. It’s the hint of danger that makes things so damn spicy. Oh, there will be exposés, and films and biographies, all about you and your fabulous excesses. Even though you’re selfish and greedy… we’re charmed.

You’re equally susceptible to seduction, because you’re a sucker for fantasy. You fall in love at the drop of a hat, as long as the hat is stylish and nice to you. We want to be your hat.

That’s right… it’s the return of the Friday Five!

1) If you had to move 100 miles or more to the north, east, west, or south, which would you choose, where would you end up, and what’s so great about there?
Good question, particularly since I’m exactly where I want to be right now. But if the Bay Area was wiped off the map? One of these: NYC, Los Angeles, San Diego, Philly, Seattle.

2) Do you have a favorite stretch of highway or byway for driving, touring, or wandering?
No, but I always get a nice wave of nostalgia as I drive through Orange County on I-5.

3) Are you happier to start a trip or return home?
Those initial hours in which the entire trip is still ahead of you can be quite magical. So, “starting.”

4) Plane, train, automobile, bicycle, or foot?
I like driving quite a lot. For most trips I’m happy to take the car, but when the drive time starts ticking upwards of five hours, I start really wishing I’d flown.

5) Do you overplan or underplan your travels? (Assume that “no” is not a valid answer.)
Underplan. “Here’s what I definitely want to hit; the rest I’ll make up as I go along.”

You are the Emo Kid, best described as a quiet pussy! You tend to be an intuitive rather than a logical thinker, meaning you rely more on your feelings than your thoughts. Not only that, but you are introverted, gentle, and rather humble. You embody all the traits of the perfect emo kid. You are a push-over, an emotional thinker, gentle to the extent of absurdity, and so humble that it even makes Jesus puke. (And Jesus almost never pukes, being immortal and not requiring an act of puke to dispell toxins from his corporeal manifestation.) If you write poetry, you no doubt write angsty, syrupy lines about depression, sadness, and other such redundant states of emo-being that go something like this:

So, your personality is defective because you are too gentle, rather underconfident in yourself, decidely lacking in any rational thought, and also a bit too inhibited. Plus, your poetry really upsets your father.

I probably made you cry, didn’t I? Fucking Emo Kid.

To put it less negatively:

1. You are more INTUITIVE than rational.

2. You are more INTROVERTED than extroverted.

3. You are more GENTLE than brutal.

4. You are more HUMBLE than arrogant.

Compatibility:

If you scored near fifty percent for a certain trait (42%-58%), you could very well go either way. For example, someone with 42% Extroversion is slightly leaning towards being an introvert, but is close enough to being an extrovert to be classified that way as well. Below is a list of the other personality types so that you can determine which other possible categories you may fill if you scored near fifty percent for certain traits.

Glad to see my request of ABC and J.J. Abrams for an especially kick-butt “Alias” premiere (it was Noelle’s birthday, after all) was more than met: I hate sporks. Ladies and gents, I present Kyle Wagner, one year old today. Recently, if you were a Jew suffering through ED at Passover, you were pretty much screwed (no pun intended). Life imitates art yet again. Dear Asshat, Check it out: I am a shell / hollow, / walking and talking as if I were a real boy. The editors of the papers in my company decided today to stop using the term “refugees” and instead stick with just “evacuees” and “victims.” Happy birthday to you, / Happy birthday to you. I’ve got a couple of photos up on Flickr of my Extreme Makeover: Goth Edition. Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life for me.

1. If you had all the money in the world and could choose to own anything, what you would get and why?

My own amusement park, a kickass one with:

roller coasters

immersive, state-of-the-art video games

the world’s best (and craziest) mini-golf courses

go-karts

a reconfigurable human-scale maze

an IMAX-sized cineplex

a world-class performance hall/venue

Why would I want my own amusement park?

For my own amusement, of course.

2. If you were to do something that scares you, what would it be?

Skydiving.

As I discovered earlier this year when I did the bungee swing thing at Great America, I still have a healthy respect for gravity and the solidness of terra firma.

Nonetheless, I still intend to throw myself “out of a perfectly good airplane,” as my mom has put it, at some point.

3. What was your first pet?

I could mention Chien and Shanna, the dachshunds my parents had had since before I was born, but they were never really mine.

That honor went to Kinky, a cat we found in the park one day when I was four or five. He was so named because of a double ninety-degree bend in the end of his tail.

He was, definitively, my cat. I could get away with so much with him, far more than anyone else in my family could, stuff like wearing him as a shawl. (Kitties, as it turns out, don’t really dig that sort of activity.)

He was a good cat. I miss him.

4. What’s the farthest you’ve traveled?

Scotland.

5. If you were a season, which one would you be and why?

I would be summer: Not as light and bouncy as springtime, nor as crisp and waning as autumn, nor as cold and still as winter, summer is the season of heat, of activity, of joie de vivre.

Extra one: If you were a song, which one would you be and why?

Poe’s “Haunted” (from her album of the same name) is a song of stirring, beautiful complexity, both lyrically and musically. It reminisces and it looks forward. Regret and hope and earnest examination all cavort about its stanzas.

It is, in short, a good approximation of what I would be as a song.

“Haunted”
by Poe

Ba da pa pa ba da pa pa…

Come here
Pretty please
Can you tell me where I am
You won’t you say something
I need to get my bearings
I’m lost
And the shadows keep on changing

And I’m haunted
By the lives that I have loved
And actions I have hated
I’m haunted
By the lives that wove the web
Inside my haunted head

Ba da pa pa ba da pa pa…

Don’t cry,
There’s always a way
Here in November in this house of leaves
We’ll pray
Please, I know it’s hard to believe
To see a perfect forest
Through so many splintered trees
You and me
And these shadows keep on changing

And I’m haunted
By the lives that I have loved
And actions I have hated
I’m haunted
By the promises I’ve made
And others I have broken
I’m haunted
By the lives that wove the web
Inside my haunted head

Hallways… always

I’ll always want you
I’ll always need you
I’ll always love you

And I will always miss you

Ba da pa pa ba da pa pa…

Come here
No I won’t say please
One more look at the ghost
Before I’m gonna make it leave
Come here
I’ve got the pieces here
Time to gather up the splinters
Build a casket for my tears

I’m haunted
(By the lives that I have loved)
I’m haunted
(By the promises I’ve made)
I’m haunted
By the hallways in this tiny room
The echos there of me and you
The voices that are carrying this tune

Ba da pa pa…

Father: What is it Annie?

Daughter: You think I’ll cry? I won’t cry!
My heart will break before I cry!
I will go mad.

(I’m sure this stuff is totally unique to me… and to anybody else conceived in early June…)

Your Birthdate: February 27

Your birth on the 27th day of the month (9 energy) adds a tone of selflessness and humanitarianism to your life path.

Certainly, you are one who can work very well with people, but at the same time you need a good bit of time to be by yourself to rest and meditate.

There is a very humanistic and philanthropic approach in most of things that you do.

This birthday helps you be broadminded, tolerant, generous and very cooperative.

You are the type of person who uses persuasion rather than force to achieve your ends.

You tend to be very sensitive to others’ needs and feelings, and you able to give much in the way of friendship without expecting a lot in return.
